The Portrait in Oil - Sydney Workshop
A two day workshop with Evan Shipard and Natalia Gorbunova exploring two approaches to painting, working from a live model at Woodburn Creatives art space.
Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th, December at 1-5 Woodburn St, Redfern.
10am-5pm with a one hour lunch break.
We will delve into our process during morning ala prima demonstrations and share cultural influences that shape our painting looking at contemporary and classical approaches.

Some experience with oil painting is preferred but not necessary.
We will go through best practice in dealing with oil paint, solvent and safety.

Whether you want to dive into oils or refine your approach in a stimulating environment, the goal of this weekend is to inspire, motivate and bring home a painting.

Materials List
We will provide Solvent 75 from Langridge, Linseed oil, medium and paper towels.
A brush jar/washer (make sure we can seal it up).
Note, Linseed or Walnut oil can also be used to clean the brushes which is my preferred studio approach.
A number of round and/or filbert brushes.
A palette
A palette knife
Small cup or jar for linseed oil.
A panel or canvas bigger than 30x30cm
Oil Paints
Ivory Black
Raw Umber
Burnt Sienna
Cadmium Red Deep
Yellow Ochre
Naples Yellow or Nickel Titanate Yellow
White (Titanium but I will also demonstrate advantages of Lead)

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th January at the Atelier Melbourne Art Academy- 28 Warner St, Oakleigh, Victoria.
